Ancient Egyptian outing for Assassin’s Creed

In a newly-leaked image from Ubisoft, it would appear that “Assassin’s Creed: Origins” has been outed as the next installment in the decade-long series, this time taking place in Ancient Egypt.

The Assassin’s Creed series is 10 years old in November this year, and it seems Ubisoft are using the milestone to go back before Altaïr’s involvement. Way back, in fact.

A leaked image, which has since been confirmed as legitimate by Eurogamer, seems to confirm the Egyptian setting, and I couldn’t be happier!

Why am I so excited? Well, going back to pre-Altaïr allows the series to enhance the mythology around the Assassin Brotherhood, but also around the pieces of Eden, their creation, and their creator’s motives.

Plus, it means that despite Ancient Egypt being one of the most interesting points in time (for me anyway), it means we may also end up seeing Ancient Greece and possibly feudal Japan? (I can dream, can’t I?)

What do you all think? I’m not sure about you, but I’m really excited to see more, and what new gameplay mechanics will be incorporated. Not to mention being able to explore Pharoah’s tombs & pyramids etc!

Bring it on, Ubisoft… and in the words of Ru Paul; “Don’t fuck it up”.
